Wearables and its penetration in our market have been extraordinary. With the likes of MI & Honor offering tons of features at rock bottom prices, it’s highly lucrative. And here is MI with a new band in its series, MI Band 4, as a successor of the highly acclaimed previous model, MI Band 3, ready for unboxing.
MI Band 4 was launched in MI Smart 2020 event on the 17th of September along with other products of the MI ecosystem, MI Smart water purifier, MI 4K 65″ Android TV, 40″ & 43″ Android TV, Motion activated night light 2, etc. I got it as an upgrade to both MI Band 3 & Honor Band 4 during the first sale on 19th September. So, today we will go with the Unboxing of Mi Band 4 and check it out in general.

So far, MI Band 4 looks great on the wrist with a highly comfortable strap. It is also a definitive upgrade to MI Band 3. With a high-resolution 120×240 pc color AMOLED touch display and 2.5D curved tempered glass, Xiaomi really revamped its band series, since earlier models came with a monochrome display. But this did have a significant effect on the cost front, pushing it further. As of now, it’s retailing for Rs 2299 in India.
Even at a price point of Rs 2299, it’s bang for the buck and offers a plethora of features. With color AMOLED full touch display, 6 workout modes including swimming with stroke recognition, daily activity tracking, sleep tracking, continuous heart rate monitor, water-resistance up to 50 meters, unlimited watch faces, battery life up to 20 days, its a steal deal in the wearable segment.
ENTICING FEATURES OF MI BAND 4
Xiaomi didn’t leave any stone unturned with its MI Band 4 this time. Last time, there was good competition between Honor Band 4 & MI Band 3, with MI Band 3 lagging in several zones. This time MI went full swing to include every feature and in some areas even better than Honor Band.
The ultimate & noteworthy upgrade is the screen itself. Color high-density screen came with a world of possibilities that were earlier missing due to monochrome low-density display, like custom watch faces, notifications, etc.
Music control is there. It was earlier missing and to have it you had to go for third-party tools for MI Band to enable such features. This time it’s built in with full-fledged support; play, pause, next, previous, volume +/-, everything using the band’s touch screen.
Camera control is still missing and one needs to enable it using some third-party apps like ” Mi Band 2/3/4 & Amazfit Selfie app” which works with some camera apps like open camera, circle camera, etc.
This is the most intriguing feature of MI Bands that many third-party apps support MI Band. These apps are always available to enhance the feature set of an already feature-rich band.
MI band 4 is a definite game-changer that will offer stiff competition to other wearables in the market. There are other options available like Honor Band 4, Honor Band 5, Lenovo Bands, but MI Band stands out of the rest.
Upcoming is a detailed review of MI Band 4 which will go live in a few days. I will include every possible scenario, details, guides, etc to MI Band 4.
